Paul Leonard Gallina

Dr. Gallina is a Professor of Human Resources at the Williams School of Business at Bishop’s University. At the WSB he teaches the following courses: occupational health and safety; employment law; industrial relations; administering the collective agreement; and, professional and business ethics. He is also an active researcher and an external consultant in each of these areas.

Among his academic achievements are as follows: a Master of Laws (with Distinction) in law and employment relations from the Graduate Faculty of Law, University of Leicester; a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Guelph; a Diploma in Occupational Health from McMaster; and, a Diploma in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier.

Prior to coming to Bishop’s Dr. Gallina worked for fifteen years with the Ontario Ministry of Labour.  At the MOL he helped implement  the reforms to workers’ compensation, and to occupational health in general, recommended by Paul Weiler in Protecting the worker from disability: challenges for the eighties(1983).  He held senior operational positions in research, policy analysis, and as a management consultant in client services. In the latter capacity he consulted in some 400 workplaces, represented clients at some 300 appeals, and participated in a variety of public education initiatives.

Since 1996 Dr. Gallina has been the Principal for the management consulting firm MeDLeG.  Originally involved with medical legal issues, MeDLeG has subsequently undertaken a wide variety of research, training, and advocacy projects in all areas of employment relations.
